Barcelona, Spain. Monday. Slept very good the night before. Eight hours.
I woke up at 6.30 or so. Read Oswald Chambers devotional.
Went down for breakfast to meet Michael and Linda. In the hotel. Breakfast area. The breakfast consisted of yogurt with fruit, toast, and boiled eggs. Their coffee is very strong in Spain. We left the hotel. And went to the market.
We found all kinds of fresh meats and foods from all over the world, it seemed. Walked out and about. We met up with Larry and Diane. They had a 30 minute walk from their hotel to our hotel.
And we walked through the marketplace again. And then walked down through the center aisle. Where there were thousands of people. We walked down towards the waterfront.
We went back to meet our Guru guide for our walking tour. As soon as we found the meeting spot, Jennifer got a call from the tour company saying they needed to change the tour to 3:30 pm. We would not do that, as we had other plans. The guy told Jennifer that our tour guide was in a bicycle accident and was in the hospital. He was so apologetic.
We just walked around for a while to observe all the buildings.
Went one block to a central square area that had lots of restaurants. We ate lunch at an Italian restaurant.
And had a very good meal. Some had pizza. Larry and I had pasta with Italian sausage and marinara sauce. Others had pizza and calzone.
We left there and walked down towards the waterfront and looked at the yachts. We walked across the drawbridge and went into a shopping area.
Walked back to our room and we played cards, Play Nine, I think it was called. It was a game that Linda and Michael introduced to us.
We will have to check that one out. We left from there and walked back away from our hotel and went to the Flamenco show. It was a one hour show with Spanish guitars, beautiful costumes, and lots of loud dancing. Flamenco dancing is very serious and it seems the only ones allowed to smile were the guitar players. All the dancers were very serious. At one point I asked Linda, why are all the dancers so angry? Maybe it is just the style of dancing or some other cultural thing I am not educated about.
The show was one hour long and very entertaining.
We left there and walked down further to a gelato place. We walked back and had a good conversations with all. It seemed every part of the world was represented by the tourists here.
We called up Mom on her Alexa device, and she answered!. We had a good chat with her. We went back to the room about 8 p.m.
We felt safe walking around even at night.
This ends our first full day in Barcelona, Spain.
Have a blessed day,
Roger
