Working on the Details

In the past week we have focused on covering more details that need to happen for our cruise from Barcelona. A fun thing that we like to do is wear custom t-shirts for embarkation day of our cruise. We got those made with my Cricut machine and they are ready to pack. We are booked on Air France. We checked out the luggage allowance and the size limits. It turns out that domestic carriers allow a slightly larger carry-on than Air France allows. We had to order another carry-on suitcase to not be oversize. Thank you Amazon for being so speedy! Our plan is to each take a carry-on, a backpack plus a small personal item and then hopefully share one large checked bag. We may need to do a “trial run” with our packing when the second carry-on arrives on Friday.

In the past year we have been collecting items that we thought we needed for this trip. On Sunday we emptied the tote bag that had everything stored neatly. We removed a few of those things that we have discovered we won’t actually need. Hopefully we can use them on a future trip, or at home. The whole voltage conversion situation has me a little anxious, but I am told that it isn’t really a big deal. We have the adapter for the plug, plus a converter for anything that can’t handle dual-voltage. Thus far, the only thing we have found that does have dual-voltage is our toothbrush charger.

Today all of the documents for everything booked were printed out and put in a folder. I believe that I may have sacrificed six trees with the amount of paper used. Yikes! We have contacted our cell company to have service added to our phones for our time in Spain. We have also contacted family to make sure that they have WhatsApp loaded on their phones. This will allow us to communicate while we are gone. Unfortunately, our living room is looking a little cluttered with luggage and other “stuff” laying around just waiting to be packed.

Months ago I (Jennifer) purchased a Travel On brand purse to use on this trip. It’s supposed to be harder to get pickpocketed. It’s also harder to use because everything is zipped into a pocket, and the zipper is then hooked. Hopefully I won’t need to go into my purse much while we are out! Roger bought a multi-pocket vest to use to try to keep things as safe as possible. Are we being paranoid or prudent? Planning is half the fun, right?
